Join us for Character Strengths Action Research (January 12, 2022, 6:00pm Eastern)

Join us as we congratulate and celebrate our gratitude to Teresa Valais as she discusses her action research capstone project for her UMBC Master in Learning and Performance Management degree.

Glean insights from Teresa’s work on revealing, embracing, and working through your strengths as a path to help you energize new choices in your work, boost good in life, and positively impact your well being.

During this multilogue, Teresa will highlight the development and evolution of character strengths. The study of strengths started in the early 2000s, when scientists gathered to study character and positive psychology more scientifically. A total of 55 distinguished scientists joined the study over several years, the result of which has been codified by the VIA Institute on Character.

Leading positive psychology and strengths researcher and professor Alex Linley defines a strength as: “A strength is a pre-existing capacity for a particular way of behaving, thinking, or feeling that is authentic and energizing to the user, and enables optimal functioning, development and performance.”
