Message from the President - September 2010

A Warm Welcome to All ISPI-Potomac Members!

I am honored and excited to step up to the role of President of the ISPI Potomac for 2010-2011. I look forward to working with all of our Chapter members and the members of our Board to continue to make the ISPI-Potomac a valuable tool for everyone in Human Performance Improvement.

To start, I would like to give some sincere Thank Yous:

Thank You to Molly Wankel for her dedication and leadership as President over the past year. The chapter had some tough challenges to overcome, but we came through with Molly’s fortitude and guidance.

Thank You to everyone on the Board! As a volunteer organization, we rely on the commitment and generosity of the members who step up to a leadership role to keep us going.

Thank YOU – to the members and supporters of ISPI-Potomac. You are the reason we are here.

We are growing:
With over 100 members - there are a couple of open positions and lots of opportunities to volunteer for a specific event or activity. As the old saying goes, “many hands make light work.”
We are currently seeking a:

  • VP of  Programs:
The Potomac Chapter puts on 12 monthly professional program meetings each year.  Help is needed with everything from flyers to meeting place logistics, to greeting attendees and meeting evaluations.  This is an excellent opportunity to network in our field and learn from and about the leaders in our field.

  • Recognition Chair:
This important role sees that any deserving chapter member gets recognition for outstanding service/activity as it happens (monthly, perhaps) during the year.

  • Corporate Liaison:
This committee solicits local businesses, large and small, and individuals to contribute in kind or in money to help defray the costs of many chapter activities.  The sponsors may make very small to very large contributions.

If you are interested in volunteering for one of these roles and would like some additional information, send me an email at czaranis@hotmail.com.

Looking Ahead Forward:

The ongoing mission of ISPI-Potomac is to make our organization a valuable resource for our members. Toward this end, the following goals for 2010-2011 have been set:

  • continue to provide interesting, thought-provoking, and informative programs and networking opportunities, that help our members learn new skills, broaden their professional horizons, and advance their careers
  • build relationships with other local organizations in the region to broaden member opportunities and share expertise
  • develop strategies to promote ISPI-Potomac to human performance practitioners throughout the DC Metro area, with the aim of adding new members (both individual and corporate) and becoming more active in our communities.

If you have suggestions or recommendations for ways to help us achieve these goals, please contact me. I value your input and ideas.

Thank you for helping to revitalize our chapter. I look forward to meeting each of you in person or online during one of our upcoming member meetings.

Regards,
Catherine Zaranis
